FIG 1
Every row is the freshest thing that page carries, and the pricing page you would buy from is dated 25 September 2024.
Buy Voluum. Its public changelog carries entries dated September 2026, June 2026, April 2026 and March 2026, and the April one rewrote the core tracking scripts. ThriveTracker's pricing page reports a last-modified date of 25 September 2024. The newest of its 148 blog posts is from 6 July 2022. The freshest of its 109 help-centre articles was touched on 6 November 2024.
Both products are on sale today. Only one of them shows public evidence of being worked on this year.
ThriveTracker is cheaper at the bottom of the ladder and it gives you 14 free days, which Voluum doesn't. If you're still testing whether paid tracking earns its keep, that's a real reason to start there. Past that point you're picking software you'll build years of campaign history inside, and the update record is the one thing about a tracker you can verify yourself before you pay.
FIG 2$
The API, bot filter and multi-user access that Classic charges extra for are bundled into Pro.
They both price on volume. Not the same volume, which matters more than the dollar gap. List prices as displayed on 6 September 2026:
| Volume (Voluum events / Thrive clicks) | Voluum | ThriveTracker |
|---|---|---|
| 500,000 | no tier this small | Cloud Lite $79.99 |
| 1,000,000 | Profit $149 ($119 annual) | Cloud Classic $134.99 |
| 5,000,000 | Scale $349 ($299 annual) | Cloud Pro $364.99 |
| 10,000,000 | Start-up $599 ($539 annual) | Cloud Entrepreneur $564.99 |
| 25,000,000 | Agency $999 ($799 annual) | Cloud Enterprise $1,189.99, 30M cap |
| 30,000,000 | Enterprise $1,999 ($1,599 annual), 60M cap | Cloud Enterprise $1,189.99 |
| 60,000,000 | Enterprise $1,999 ($1,599 annual) | Cloud Elite, custom quote |
Voluum prints its annual maths in public: $119 a month billed as $1,428 up front on Profit, $299 and $3,588 on Scale, $539 and $6,468 on Start-up. Thrive prints no annual figure anywhere. The page says one sentence, "Billed annually you get 2 months free," and leaves you to do it. Ten months of twelve on Classic lands near $112.49 a month, but that's my arithmetic off their sentence, not a number they quote.
Two things the sticker hides.
On Thrive's two cheapest tiers the reporting API is $49/mo and the geo-redirect plus bot filter is $59/mo. Multi-user access on Classic costs another $79. A Classic buyer who needs the API, bot filtering and multi-user access is at $321.99, and Cloud Pro at $364.99 bundles all three plus premium support. So the jump from Classic to Pro is far smaller than the price list makes it look.
On Voluum, Automizer is a separate subscription priced on tracked ad spend, and the amount folded into your plan is not flat. Profit and Scale include $1,000 of tracked spend. Start-up includes $15,000, Agency $30,000, Enterprise $65,000. Standalone it runs free up to $1,000/mo, then $375 up to $50,000, $550 to $100,000, $1,175 to $250,000, $1,650 to $500,000 and $2,380 to a million. Overage past the included spend is 1% on the standalone plan and on Profit and Scale, 0.9% on Start-up, 0.85% on Agency, 0.8% on Enterprise.
One more trap. Voluum's pricing page splits into an Individual tab and a Business tab, and there are two different packages both called Start-up. The Individual one is $599. The Business one has no price, a "Contact us" button and different user and API allowances. Ask a salesperson which Start-up they're quoting you.
This is the part most comparisons get wrong, including the ones that put both products in a single price-per-million table.
Voluum bills events, and it defines an event as a visit, a click, a conversion or an impression, with ten impressions counted as one event. Thrive bills clicks. Line the two 1,000,000 rows up against each other and you're comparing two different meters. Push display or pop traffic and Voluum's allowance drains at a rate your click reports won't warn you about. Run clean click traffic with a postback per conversion and the two are closer than the labels suggest.
Neither one cuts you off at the cap. Voluum keeps tracking and bills the overflow: $0.06 per 1,000 events on Profit, $0.05 on Scale and Start-up, $0.035 on Agency, $0.03 on Enterprise.
Thrive's calculator is odder. Its script defines three overage rates, but the function that decides how many extra clicks you have only returns a non-zero number inside three narrow bands, and all three sit in the same middle bracket. In practice $0.036 per 1,000 is the only overage rate the thing can ever charge. Everywhere else it silently moves you up a plan instead. Worth knowing before you budget against the cheaper $0.024 figure sitting in the same file.
Voluum's changelog reads like a product with people on it. September 2026, June 2026, April 2026, March 2026, October 2025 and back. The April 2026 entry merged the separate lander and offer scripts into one Campaign Tracking Script and describes itself as the biggest update to the core tracking mechanisms in years. There's also an MCP endpoint so an AI agent can query your data, rationed by tier, 20 calls a day on Profit and 1,000 on Enterprise, more on the two contact-us tiers above it.
ThriveTracker, using only its own site:
Against all that, the checkout works. The signup flow at accounts.thrivetracker.com returns 200 and renders three real steps, registration then plan then billing, with Google sign-up wired in. Login is up. The homepage markets AI Optimization and the badge appears on every tier including Lite. This is a product being sold, not a dead link with a payment form.
What the dates support is narrower and still worth your money's attention: the marketing site, blog and documentation have had no substantive refresh since 2024. And if self-hosting was your reason for shortlisting Thrive, that reason is gone. You can't buy it from the public site.
FIG 3months
Thrive publishes one default for every cloud plan, extendable only by contacting support, while Voluum prints a figure per tier.
Voluum publishes retention per tier: 6 months on Profit, 12 on Scale and Start-up, 18 on Agency, 24 on Enterprise. Thrive's help centre says raw click and conversion logs are kept for the current month plus the previous three by default, extendable by contacting support, with aggregated data at two years and IP-aggregated at one. That article was last updated on 6 November 2024.
Four months of raw logs against six or twelve is not a footnote. It's the difference between being able to pull click-level evidence for a disputed conversion from last quarter and not.
Voluum's privacy policy names Commerce Media Tech sp. z o.o., ul. Lubicz 17G, Krakow, registered at the District Court Krakow-Srodmiescie, KRS 0000830352. That company's own site says it joined the Team Internet Group in 2020. The About page dates the product to 2013 under founder Robert Gryn, and its meta description still calls Codewise the parent company even though the About page's visible text never says the name once. Old tags nobody swept up.
ThriveTracker's footer reads "2026 ThriveTracker.com, LLC" and the copy says it's backed by industry leaders and private equity. The company page gives 2014. No parent is named anywhere official, so I won't name one either. The acquisition stories floating around affiliate blogs come from secondary sources, and this site doesn't publish a fact it hasn't opened.
Under 500,000 clicks a month and not yet sure tracking is worth paying for: start with ThriveTracker. Take the 14 days. Check the pricing page's own date before your card gets charged.
Anything above that, or anything you plan to still be running in 2028: Voluum. You'll pay more at 1M units and you won't get a trial. What you get is a vendor that shipped a tracking-engine rewrite five months ago and posted about it.
